What these numbers tell you
The calculator uses two affordability measures. First, it applies your selected planning repayment ratio to gross household income and allows for existing debt repayments. Second, it considers the disposable income remaining after the living expenses and existing debt repayments you entered. The lower repayment amount is then used to estimate the finance that repayment could support at the selected interest rate and term.
This methodology is for planning purposes and does not reproduce any individual finance provider's affordability model. A lender will make its own affordability assessment.
Affordability is only one part of a residential finance application. We can help assess your situation, structure the requirement and position the case before it moves into the appropriate formal application process.
Start with your situationThis calculator provides indicative estimates for general planning purposes only. It does not replicate any particular lender's affordability assessment. Actual affordability, interest rates, loan-to-value requirements, fees, credit criteria and lending decisions vary between finance providers. Results do not constitute financial advice, a quotation, pre-approval or an indication that finance will be approved.
Property purchase costs such as transfer duty, transfer fees, bond registration costs and other transaction costs are not included unless specifically entered elsewhere.
